Sustainable practices
Hotel’s architecture
Therefore, the hotel’s architecture gives precedence to the selection of sustainable materials that have the least impact possible on the surrounding nature. Only the central block of villas has a basement, the rest are built on stilts (lower impact build), in addition, to avoid cutting down trees, many of the villas have been designed to incorporate actual trees within them. The creation of a minimalist environment, with floor-to-ceiling windows, in which nature plays the leading role, is also key in the connection with nature and in raising sustainability awareness.
100% autonomous
Solar panels are used for heating hot water in villas as well as in the main building, the Spa building, and the Guest Suites. They are also used for underfloor heating as well as to heat the swimming pools. Sublime is 100% autonomous with regards to drinking water and irrigation. Our wastewater treatment system (WWTP) also allows us to obtain water with good enough quality to be used for irrigation. We also have a mini Etar for treatment of water.
We recommend guests reduce water consumption by re-using towels and we are in the process of reducing single use plastic. No plastic straws are used at the hotel. The hotel uses mainly led lighting systems. Most of our written communication is printed on recycled paper.
Air pollution is another issue that concerns us. Therefore, we support electric cars by offering car charging points in our car park.

National and local stakeholders
A sustainable and socially responsible attitude also means ensuring that we include national and local stakeholders into the tourism experience, contributing to the local economy. The vast majority of the products used are locally sourced.
We have partnerships with local fishermen and farmers and many of our employees are from the area. Our chef gives precedence to regional recipes and uses seasonal produce at our restaurants.

100% organic
Another interesting highlight, the coffee served at the hotel is 100% organic. It is made using a large selection of Latin American Arabica beans which give aroma and balance and a selection of Robusta beans from Africa, responsible for the intensity and complexity of this blend.
Our décor uses a combination of well-known brands and artefacts bought locally, which simultaneously helps tell the story of the region and to promote local small businesses and artisans.
